1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide to create or use an account, contact us, submit content, or make a purchase. This may include your username, email address, order and submission details. Payments are handled by Stripe; we do not store full payment-card numbers.
If you are signed in and choose “Submit my score” in 838 Snake, your username and best score are shown publicly on the game leaderboard. Score submission is optional; you can play without submitting. You can ask us to remove your leaderboard entry using the contact details below.
2. Optional Analytics and Site Promotion
Only if you accept, we use random visitor and session IDs to measure page views and paths, clicks and click order, scroll depth, download clicks, media plays, session activity span, sign-in/sign-up success, form type (not field contents), referring site, campaign tags, browser language, coarse device and viewport categories, and an approximate country code when supplied by the hosting/network request. If you sign in on the same browser, analytics events may be linked to your account ID so we can understand account journeys. These IDs are pseudonymous, not anonymous. Events collected before this updated consent are excluded from the current analytics and promotion-planning reports; we do not repurpose those older event trails for advertising planning.
We use this optional information to improve the site and its content, evaluate navigation and product interest, run A/B tests, measure campaigns, and plan or promote 838.world. We may use aggregate trends for our own advertising and promotion planning. We do not currently send event-level analytics to advertising platforms, build cross-site advertising profiles, or use these events for personalized ad targeting. If we later want to share personal analytics with ad platforms or use it for individualized targeting, we will update this notice and provide a separate choice where required before doing so.
Our analytics table does not store IP addresses, precise GPS location, ages, passwords, form contents, or keystrokes. However, our hosting, database, CDN, and security providers may process standard connection data (which can include IP addresses) to deliver and protect the service; their own logs and retention are separate from our analytics table. We do not sell analytics data.
We store your analytics choice in browser storage so we remember whether you accepted or rejected. Random analytics IDs and campaign/session details are created or used only after you accept; visitor IDs rotate after 12 months and the IDs are reset when you give consent under this updated notice.
Anonymous visit counts. Until you accept or reject optional analytics, we count anonymous visits: the page you opened, the campaign tag in the link (for example which social platform sent you), whether you clicked a buy or free-download button, whether you use a touch or desktop device, and the hour it happened. These counts use no visitor or session ID, no cookies or browser storage, and no IP address in our table, and they cannot be linked to you or to each other. Once you choose either option, this anonymous counting stops and your choice applies.
You can reject analytics and still use the site. You can change your choice at any time using “Privacy settings” in the site footer (or on the home page). Rejecting stops future optional analytics and asks us to delete analytics events tied to that browser’s random visitor ID; if the deletion request is temporarily unavailable, a pending deletion token is kept in browser storage and retried on a later visit, then removed when complete. You may separately request access, correction, or deletion of account or other personal information, subject to applicable legal exceptions, using the contact details below.

4. Legal Grounds
Where the GDPR applies, optional analytics and promotion planning use consent; account, order, and requested-feature processing is used to provide the service; required business records may be kept to meet legal obligations; and limited security/fraud processing may rely on legitimate interests where those interests do not override your rights. You may withdraw analytics consent at any time without losing access to core site features.
5. Service Providers and Transfers
We rely on service providers to host and deliver the site, provide database and authentication services, serve required software libraries, and process payments (including Vercel, Supabase, jsDelivr, and Stripe). They may process information, including technical connection data, in locations outside Ontario or Canada under their service terms. We do not currently share event-level analytics with advertising platforms.
6. Retention and Security
Our live analytics-event retention limit is 12 months. A daily Supabase cleanup job deletes older events; this job must be activated using the setup instructions in our analytics-retention SQL file. We will verify that it is active before relying on analytics for promotion planning. Provider backups and operational logs may have separate retention periods under provider settings and terms. Order and account records may be retained longer when needed to provide the service, handle disputes, keep required business records, or meet legal obligations. We use access controls and safeguards appropriate to the information, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.
7. Your Choices and Rights
lets you accept or reject optional analytics. Depending on the laws that apply where you live, you may also have rights to know/access, correct, delete, restrict or object to certain processing, or complain to a privacy regulator. Contact us to make a request; we may need to verify your identity and will respond as required by law.
